History

Focus Logistics Solutions was founded in March of 1998 by Doug Byorth. Doug is a graduate of OSU with a degree in transportation logistics. He applied his knowledge as the Logistics Manager at ITT Automotive, a Tier 1 anti-lock brake manufacturer located in the Carolinas. As a Tier 1 to Chrysler, Mercedes Benz and BMW the pace and demands on logistics functions and the supply chain were rigorous. After three years his logistics department (with cooperation from the materials department) was able to save in excess of $15million. Additionally, they were able to increase inventory turns from 14 to 44 annually.

Excited about this success the Focus Logistics Solutions business idea was born. This idea was to apply the same management techniques to the activities of small and medium sized businesses. He envisioned a company that would operate like an “in house” logistics department from an off site office. Now, over ten years later, outsourcing logistics services is common place and Focus Logistics Solutions is more than an idea. Focus has helped their many clients gain control of their freight activity while producing Guaranteed savings.
